It’s been a good past few weeks from an author’s perspective. My memoir, THE WAY FROM ME TO US, has made it to the finals in the Chanticleer Awards for books about overcoming adversity. The winners will be announced next month.
Providing editorial and marketing support to authors in a range of genres, Chanticleer sponsors an annual writing conference cited by Writer magazine as one of the best in North America.
I’m proud to be recognized by this organization.
The other good news?
After several delays, my memoir is scheduled for release June 1 by Riverdale Avenue Books in NYC. They sound like they mean it this time!
At their request, I’ve written copy for the back cover.
And I’ve secured four readers to write a blurb for the cover and for a press release.
I’m super excited about the lineup:
- One of my readers is a well-known gay author in Atlanta.
- Another is connected with the Presbyterian Church. (There is a spiritual element to my book.)
- Another is an author and podcaster on good storytelling techniques.
- Last but not least is a friend and amazingly prolific writer whose published nonfiction books I have admired for over 25 years.
So … the wheels are turning.
I’ll keep you posted on our progress.
And, as always, thanks for your interest.
Thanks for sharing all the good news, Mike. Congratulations!

This is wonderful, Mike! And you know the winner MUST travel to Washington State for the ceremonies. If you go, I go! 🙂

I wish! It’s a little too pricey for us … and that’s even without airfare.
