I’m happy to report that my memoir is scheduled for release in October this year to coincide with Atlanta’s Pride celebration. (The event was moved in 2008 from the traditional June date because of the heat.)
I haven’t blogged over the last few weeks. It all seems so superfluous given the fact that an autocratic madman is leading the world into war, but I wanted to share this news. It came this morning.
The first-time author experience
Speaking as a first-time author, I’ve lived on tenterhooks since the first of the year while my book remained unscheduled by my publisher, Riverdale Avenue Books in NYC. You anticipate a phone call or email saying, “Sorry, we reviewed your book again and realized it’s a piece of crap.”
But, as with any other close-to-the-heart project, you keep the faith. THE WAY FROM ME TO US is the story of Ted and me, so it is close to my heart indeed. I’m delighted to be able to say it will be available “just in time for the holidays!”
A big thank-you
I want to express my gratitude to each of you for showing an interest in my memoir and responding so positively to the blog I began late last year. I sincerely appreciate your support. And I look forward to sharing Ted’s and my story with you later this year … as autumn leaves fall.
I can hardly wait!! So want to read it!!

Thank you, Phyllis. You and Dick and the boys are in it, of course!

Thank you so much, Carole. I’m eager for you to read it, too. Nacoochee figures prominently in our story.
